Why I don't like resource-intensive software in our resource-scarce environment?

If you can do it with 2 MB, why would you need 200 MB to get the same result? Every time I have to wait while Winblows 9X keeps loading on a PC with Pentium III, I get a feeling that it is making fun of me. ;-)
