"Perseids 2007"

 

MS-EME expedition RX3AA/3 to KO65SE.

Our team went to the district Safonovo early in the morning on August 8th. The members of the expedition were : Nick RX3AA, Sergei RA3WND and Alex RW3AZ. All equipment fit into two cars. For the 250 km route" Belarus", it took us around 3 hours. Evgeny RA3LX waited for us on a place of a meeting. We should work from summer QTH. Location was excellent, the horizon was virtually open on all sides. Only directions to south-east and east was blatantly coming trees. Eugene immediately invite us to the table where was saucepan with mushroom soup. After lunch the team began installing antenna and equipment . After 17 UT all was ready for operation. The first QSO was with Yuri RW3WR (tropo). Satisfied that everything works perfectly, turned antenna to the west and gave CQ MS from KO65. The first in our log was DJ9YE Klaus, from Russian first was RW9FT. "Stones" began as a horns of plenty, QSO`s leaving an average of 5-10 minutes. There are many QSO`s, which have been held for 2-2.5 minutes ..

Initially, we never thought to work via the moon, but the enthusiam of the "young" RA3WND led us run positive results. After the announcement in a chat, that RX3AA/3 QRV EME from square KO65 was at 144.115 MHz, on our frequency was nice Pile Up via Moon. We saw several stations calling us, some were heard as well with good audio. The first lucky DL9MS, IK7EZN and RK3FG. The signal from RK3FG was the most powerful and sometimes reach up to -15 dB. Our correspondents take our message from -18 dB to -29 dB. At this time, the sun and the moon were on a decline and practically in one point of a sky.

There are 343 QSO`s in our LOG, including :

TROPO - 108 QSO`s, ODX: 959 km, OH3UW (KO21EA).

MS - 212 QSO, ODX: 2187 km, G0KOW (JO01OD).

EME - 23 QSO`s, ODX: 9631 km, AA7A (DM43AO).

We uses as equipment: Transceiver IC-747PRO, LNA with ATF10136, 9 el antenna (M2) 12.6 dB , PA with GS35, rotator Yaesu G800 and two computers. All items, except PA, has been connected to 220 volt via UPS. This was performed in all respects, especially with the instability of the AC line. Since there has never been a malfunction of the equipment, although we may at one moment did not turn off all the time.

Every day we have joined sunny and warm weather. Near our position was the Dnepr river, and some team members gone swimming and crossed the river some times.
